Tonight’s Cleveland Cavaliers–Oklahoma City Thunder game won’t feature LeBron James or Stephen Curry on the court, but it is still one to watch.
This isn’t just a potential NBA Finals preview, with the best teams in the Eastern and Western Conferences facing off, but it’s also a historic matchup between the league’s two hottest teams.
The Cavs and Thunder Are On Fire
For the first time in NBA history, teams with 10- and 15-game winning streaks will play against one another.
The Cavaliers have won 15 straight. And OKC has racked up 10 consecutive wins.
The Cavs are 31-4 with a phenomenal winning percentage of .886. The Thunder are just a game back with a stellar 30-5 record and .857 winning percentage.
This is just the third time in NBA history that teams with winning percentages above .850 will meet this late into a season.
It’s also a clash between what are arguably the league’s best offense (the Cavs) and the league’s best defense (Thunder).
The Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, third in the NBA with 31.3 points per game, will face off against Donovan Mitchell, who has been on fire from behind the arc for the Cavs and is fourth in the league in three points made.
