Alabama faces Florida in a showdown between two SEC powerhouses in the tournament semifinals. Both teams are competing for a spot in tomorrow’s SEC Tournament championship game against Tennessee after their shock win over Auburn.
Florida defeated Alabama 99-94 in their March 5 matchup, led by Alex Condon’s 27 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Senior Mark Sears led the Crimson Tide with 30 points, despite going 10-of-24 from the field and 2-of-10 from three.
Alabama limited its turnovers to just six in that game, but Florida made the most of second-chance points, dominating the boards with a total of 50 rebounds.
Sears and fellow senior Walter Clayton Jr. of Florida could play pivotal roles this afternoon. Clayton Jr. scored 22 points and dished out eight assists in Florida’s previous win over Alabama.
