(5) Clemson takes on (12) McNeese in today’s sixth March Madness first-round game.
The Tigers are coming off an ACC Tournament semifinal loss to Louisville, which just fell to gritty Creighton in the NCAA Tournament’s first round.
It’s likely to be a first-round exit for McNeese in the Midwest region. The Cowboys haven’t fared well in non-conference play. Its head coach, Will Wade — a Clemson alumnus — is also expected to make an exit of his own, leaving for NC State next season.
Can McNeese pull off an upset? One can never say never. McNeese lost by only eight to Alabama in November.
