The Boston Celtics face off against the Orlando Magic tonight with a 2-0 series lead that now looks less commanding than it did just 24 hours earlier. Not only is Jayson Tatum listed as doubtful with a right wrist bone bruise, but Jrue Holiday (hamstring) and Jaylen Brown (knee) are both questionable.
It was Brown who led the Celtics to their Game 2 win over the Magic without Tatum. Now the burden may fall on the shoulders of Kristaps Porziņģis — but he’s simply not that kind of player.
The Magic have a real chance of stealing this game if Brown and Tatum are out, especially if their duo of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner continues their lights-out shooting.
For the Celtics, a single loss may be worth it if their core can recoup for a deep playoff run. But beyond that, they could be setting themselves up for a longer, messier first-round series and an earlier-than-expected exit.
Stay tuned.
