Saturday, May 31 – Game 6 Preview
New York Knicks at Indiana Pacers
Pacers lead Eastern Conference Finals 3–2
The Knicks and Pacers are locked in one of the most tightly contested series of the postseason. While Indiana has dominated at home, the Knicks have shown they’re capable of stealing games on the road — just as they did twice in Boston during the semifinals.
Tonight’s Game 6 is a clash of contrasting identities. The Pacers thrive in transition, ranking first among all playoff teams in fast-break points and three-point shooting percentage. But New York has proven to be the grittier team in the half-court, using physical defense and timely shot-making to keep games within striking distance.
The Knicks must repeat their Game 5 success, forcing the Pacers to play on their terms right from the start, shutting down Tyrese Haliburton and getting both Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns to attack the basket.
The Pacers, of course, have more offensive weapons than just Haliburton. The Knicks have no answer for Pascal Siakam. And Towns has struggled to guard Myles Turner.
Mitchell Robinson’s defense will be key in holding the Pacers down in key stretches — and Delon Wright has proved to be a key defensive force off the bench as well.
If the Knicks can control pace, minimize turnovers, and hit timely threes, this series is headed to a Game 7.
