The Kenyan High Court has suspended a government plan to transfer control over the country’s largest airport to the Adani Group, the Financial Times reports.
The proposed no-bid contract with the Adani Group, leaked in July by a whistleblower, stirred controversy in Kenya given the conglomerate’s growing association with corruption.
The High Court’s move is a setback for the Adani Group’s global expansion and the government of President William Ruto, which has been trying to attract foreign direct investment as it seeks to move away from debt-driven growth.
