This long weekend of football culminates in the college football National Championship game on Monday night, where Ohio State will face Notre Dame for the College Football Playoff crown.
The game, set to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, is one of the hottest tickets in sports. Seats for the game in the resale market start at just over $1800, before fees.
After fees, upper-deck ticket prices rise to $2,300 and above. Meanwhile, ground-level seats near the 50-yard line will cost you just over $10,000, including fees.
For many fans, especially alumni of both universities, the steep cost is worth it. It’s the Fighting Irish versus the Buckeyes, after all.
A Long Time Waiting
Ohio State is looking for its first national championship title since 2014. For Notre Dame, the drought goes back much further — to 1988. The great Lou Holtz was the head coach at the time.
The last time the Fighting Irish played in a National Championship game was in the 2012 season bout, where they were trounced by Alabama 42-12.
