The 9-7 Denver Broncos host the 15-1 Kansas City Chiefs at Mile High this afternoon for a decisive Week 18 battle for quarterback Bo Nix and company.
The Broncos will face the formidable Chiefs following last Saturday’s disappointing overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. But with Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and most of the Chiefs’ starters out, Denver is favored to win.
For the Chiefs, backup quarterback Carson Wentz will start in Mahomes’ place.
Playoff Scenarios
The Chiefs are sitting easy, having locked the first seed in the AFC and a first-round bye.
Meanwhile, the 9-7 Broncos are in a three-way race for the final AFC playoff spot with the 9-8 Bengals and 8-8 Miami Dolphins.
They need a win on Sunday to secure a playoff berth. The Bengals kept their playoff hopes alive with a win last night over the Pittsburgh Steelers. For Denver, a loss would give them the same record as Cincinnati, which holds the tie-breaker due to their Week 16 win over the Broncos.
The Dolphins, who also play one of today’s late afternoon games, also need a win combined with a Broncos loss to make it to the playoffs. Fortunately for Miami, with a win on Sunday, they would hold the tiebreaker over both the Bengals and the Broncos.
