(2) Alabama faces (15) Robert Morris in the second of Friday’s March Madness first-round games.
The Crimson Tide, part of the SEC’s top tier, should overwhelm the Colonials, who are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2015.
Watch for a big game from Alabama’s leading scorer, Mark Sears. The senior’s regular season numbers aren’t as impressive as last year, but he’s emerged as a clear team leader.
Sears delivered in last year’s NCAA Tournament, averaging 24.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game during Alabama’s run to the Final Four. Expect him to also deliver today and throughout Alabama’s current tournament run.
The winner of this game — which will almost certainly be Alabama — will face the winner of the St. Mary’s vs. Vanderbilt matchup later this afternoon. A second-round victory for Alabama is far from guaranteed.
