The Cleveland Cavaliers look to even their Eastern Conference Semifinals series tonight against the Indiana Pacers, trailing two games to one.
Cleveland responded with urgency in Game 3, dominating the Pacers 126–104 behind a 43-point outburst from Donovan Mitchell — his second 40-point game of the series.
Through the first three games, Mitchell is averaging 36.3 points per game while shooting over 49% from the field. He has consistently punished Indiana’s defense in isolation and transition, and his elite scoring has kept the Cavaliers competitive despite early struggles.
In Game 3, Mitchell finally had help with the return of Cleveland’s starters, who made a clear difference. Darius Garland has brought improved ball movement, and his 14-point, 7-assist performance in Game 3 helped stabilize the Cavs’ half-court offense. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen have anchored the frontcourt with their interior play.
Mobley posted 18 points and 13 rebounds, while Allen added 19 points and 12 boards — combining for 25 total rebounds that helped Cleveland win the rebounding battle 44–31. That edge on the glass has been critical in limiting Indiana’s transition opportunities.
Cleveland’s defense also stepped up, switching to a 3-2 zone that put Mobley at the top to challenge Tyrese Haliburton’s vision. The result: Haliburton was held to just 4 points in Game 3, well below his series average of 17.7 points and 9.3 assists.
For Indiana, the loss was a setback, but they’ve been strong at home all season and still hold the series lead. They’ll need to reestablish their ball movement and outside shooting, which faltered in Game 3 as the team shot just 30% from deep.
Game 4 is a critical swing game. A Cleveland win resets the series heading back to Rocket Arena. A Pacers win puts Indiana in full control with a chance to close out in five.
Expect this to be a close margin game with Halliburton rebounding but the Cavaliers prevailing to even the series at two games apiece.
Series Prediction: Cleveland in seven.
