Duke faces its archrival North Carolina in tonight’s ACC semifinal — but they’ll do so without their star player, Cooper Flagg. Flagg sprained his left ankle during Thursday night’s win over Georgia Tech and had to leave the game in a wheelchair.
While he may be out for the rest of the ACC Tournament, the bigger concern is whether he’ll be ready for the NCAA Tournament. His X-rays came back negative, offering some hope for a quicker recovery.
Duke still has plenty of talent to lean on, including Kon Knueppel, Khaman Malauch, and others. The Blue Devils have already beaten UNC twice this season, winning 87-70 on Feb. 1 and 82-69 on March 8.
For North Carolina, senior RJ Davis will need another big performance—just as he delivered in Thursday’s win over Wake Forest, where he scored 23 points on 56% shooting from the field. Freshman Ian Jackson will also need to step up if the Tar Heels hope to turn the tide.
