Louisville and Creighton kick off a packed day of 16 March Madness games today, with play beginning just after noon Eastern.
It’s set to be one of the most competitive matchups of the day. The two teams are seeded 8th and 9th in the South region, respectively. And Louisville finished third in the ACC, while Creighton placed second in the Big East, behind St. John’s.
Creighton is no pushover. The Bluejays put up a strong fight against St. John’s in the first half of the Big East Tournament final before ultimately falling by a wide margin.
But Creighton has a proven tournament pedigree, making it to the Sweet 16 in 2023 and the Elite Eight in 2022. Much of that core remains intact, including big man Ryan Kalkbrenner and gritty point guard Steven Ashworth.
The 7’1″ Kalkbrenner is a projected second-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
On the other side, Louisville guard Terrence Edwards Jr., a fifth-year transfer, has been on fire in March, averaging 24.8 points per game as he looks to lead the Cardinals on a deep tournament run.
