Juan Soto and the New York Mets end their spring training with a bit of drama. The Amazins play their final spring training game today — and their opponent is none other than Soto’s former team, the New York Yankees.
The crosstown rivalry has taken on a more bitter tone after Soto spurned the Bronx Bombers following a one-year stint that ended in a World Series appearance. The 26-year-old instead signed a 15-year deal with the Mets that could be worth up to $800 million by the time it’s over.
In The Pursuit, a new docuseries by the Mets chronicling their signing of Soto, the star outfielder said, “The Yankees were No. 1 from day one. I know the Yankees are going to be good for the next five, six years. We don’t know after that.”
Today’s Mets Lineup
This afternoon’s lineup offers a preview of the firepower the Mets will bring into the 2025 season.
Soto will bat second, behind Francisco Lindor. Pete Alonso — who re-signed with the Mets on a two-year deal this winter — bats third. Brandon Nimmo follows in the cleanup spot, and Mark Vientos rounds out the top five. They hit a combined 158 home runs in 2024.
Tickets for today’s game remain available on the resale market and appear to be in high demand.

Soto’s Yankee Stadium Return
If you’re looking ahead to Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium, you’re not alone. His first game back in the Bronx will be on May 16, 2025.
Tickets for that series are also being resold at a premium. The most sought-after seats? Those near the visitor’s dugout and in right field — where Soto will likely be stationed.
Clearly, many Yankees fans are eager to give him a classic Bronx cheer.
