The Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets look to break their 2–2 series tie in their Western Conference Semifinals series in Game 5 tonight at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder regained momentum with a 92–87 victory in Game 4, bouncing back from an overtime loss in Game 3.
Game 4 featured ugly shooting nights for both teams. The Nuggets and Thunder both made less than a quarter of their three-point attempts and around a third of their shots from the field overall.
In Game 4, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led Oklahoma City with 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, though he missed all five three-point attempts.
Denver struggled offensively, with Nikola Jokić scoring 27 points but shooting just 32% from the floor. The Nuggets’ bench was outscored 35–8, exposing depth concerns that could factor heavily in a long series.
But it’s not just the Nuggets’ bench that’s undelivered. Michael Porter Jr. has had an inconsistent series — really just one good game in which he scored 21 points, and three other bad games in which he averaged 4 points.
The Nuggets can’t afford for a starter to play 35 minutes and make just one field goal. Porter Jr. and Russell Westbrook will both need to step up to give the Nuggets the win tonight in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder, who had the NBA’s best home record in the regular season, will look to use that advantage to regain control of the series. Expect them to come out on top tonight in a close-margin game, but close the series in seven.
Series Prediction: Thunder in seven.
