The surging Las Vegas Aces (27–14) look to extend their 13-game winning streak tonight at home against the free-falling Chicago Sky (10–31).
It’s the first of back-to-back meetings between the two teams, giving Las Vegas a strong chance to push the streak to 15 before closing the regular season against the Los Angeles Sparks.
For fans hoping to see an A’ja Wilson versus Angel Reese showdown, only half of that marquee matchup is on. Reese has been suspended for half a game after comments deemed “detrimental to the team.”
She told the Chicago Tribune last week she “might have to move in a different direction and do what’s best for me” — a modest note of public frustration from a rookie averaging a double-double on a team stuck at 10–31. Despite that, Reese remains under contract with Chicago for another year.
The Aces sit third in the standings, chasing the Atlanta Dream for the No. 2 seed. Securing that spot would set up a first-round matchup with the short-handed Indiana Fever, who clinched the seventh seed earlier today.
The Dream still have two games remaining against the 10–21 Connecticut Sun, but if the teams finish tied, Las Vegas holds the tiebreaker after sweeping the season series 3–0.
Prediction
Expect a dominant performance from Las Vegas as they overwhelm a depleted Sky team on both ends of the floor. A’ja Wilson is poised to deliver another monster outing, with a third straight 30+ point night to power the Aces’ offense.
Prediction: Las Vegas Aces 90, Chicago Sky 74
