The Chicago Sky (10–30) visit the Indiana Fever (21–20) tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Both teams will be without their stars tonight. Caitlin Clark has been officially ruled out for the season. And Angel Reese was suspended after picking up her eighth technical foul of the season. Reese also drew an additional half-game suspension for her public criticism of the team.
For Chicago, the season has long been over, as the Sky were eliminated from playoff contention weeks ago. Indiana, however, remains in the thick of the race. The Fever currently hold the eighth and final playoff spot, 1.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Sparks, who face the Atlanta Dream tonight in a pivotal matchup.
Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell have carried Indiana in Clark’s absence. Mitchell averages 19.3 points per game, while Boston adds 16 per contest. The Fever have stayed competitive despite losing Clark, but the injuries to Aari McDonald and other role players have hurt their depth, forcing them to rely on hardship contracts.
Prediction
Indiana’s balance and home-court edge should be too much for the shorthanded Sky.
Prediction: Indiana Fever 85, Chicago Sky 73
