Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry will be ruled out for Game 2 against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
The 37-year-old guard suffered a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring in the second quarter of last night’s win over the Timberwolves.
Though Curry played 70 regular-season games this year, he has dealt with repeated knee and pelvic injuries throughout the season. His latest setback marks the first muscle strain of his career, and his return timetable remains unclear as he begins rehab.
This is not the first time Curry’s playoff run has been disrupted by injury. In 2016, he suffered an MCL sprain in his right knee during the first round against the Houston Rockets, forcing him to miss two weeks, including part of the second-round series against the Portland Trail Blazers.
He returned to lead the Warriors to the NBA Finals, though they ultimately fell to the Cavaliers.
Draymond Green and Buddy Hield powered the Warriors to victory last night, but it’s unlikely that the defensive-minded Green can sustain the offensive performance.
The burden on the shoulders of the Warriors’ midseason acquisition, Jimmy Butler, now increases.
