The Oklahoma City Thunder and Denver Nuggets are tied 1–1 heading into Game 3 of their Western Conference Semifinals matchup at Ball Arena in Denver.
In Game 1, the Nuggets clawed back from a 14-point deficit to secure a 121–119 win thanks to Aaron Gordon’s dramatic game-winning shot in the final seconds. Nikola Jokić led Denver with 42 points and 22 rebounds, while Jamal Murray chipped in key late-game baskets.
But the Thunder responded emphatically in Game 2, ensuring they built a lead Denver couldn’t erase. Oklahoma City stormed out to a 90-point first half — the most in franchise playoff history — and never looked back, delivering a record-setting 149–106 blowout.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 30 points, while Chet Holmgren added 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks. The Thunder defense also stepped up, limiting Jokić’s playmaking by forcing turnovers and, in the view of Gordon, fouling him a lot.
For Denver, regaining control at home is critical. Jokić is still averaging 29.5 points in the series. But his efficiency has dipped, and the team has struggled to match Oklahoma City’s pace and defensive pressure.
One adjustment to watch: with Michael Porter Jr. dealing with a left shoulder strain, Russell Westbrook may get more minutes off the bench to provide a spark, experience, and additional ball-handling. Denver will need stronger contributions from Gordon and Jamal Murray to avoid falling behind in the series.
Expect Denver to bounce back tonight, though the series itself will go to the Thunder.
Series Prediction: Thunder in six.
