Venus Williams returns to the court tonight at the 2025 Mubadala Citi DC Open, where she’ll face Peyton Stearns on Stadium Court in Tuesday’s most anticipated match.
Williams, 45, is back in singles for the first time in more than a year, following her successful doubles debut on Monday. She and her doubles partner, the DC-native Hailey Baptiste, beat Eugenie Bouchard and Clervie Ngounoue in straight sets yesterday, 6‑3, 6‑1.
But tonight, the spotlight will be on the 45-year-old Williams alone in Stadium Court.
Williams Looks to End Drought at DC Open
Williams’ last singles tour-level victory came on August 14, 2023, when she defeated then – World No. 16 Veronika Kudermetova in Cincinnati.
Tonight, she’ll aim to end her singles losing streak and show flashes, at age 45, of the form that carried her to seven Grand Slam titles.
Whether she wins or not, a legend takes the court in Washington — and demand to see her is driving a late surge in ticket sales.
Tuesday Is a Hot Ticket — With Plenty of Action
Just about a dozen tickets remain for tonight’s DC Open session.
Beyond Williams’ return, Tuesday’s schedule is packed with top names and matchups across Stadium Court and the outer courts.
American Ben Shelton will face Mackenzie McDonald as part of the evening program.
Earlier in the day, Emma Raducanu will play Marta Kostyuk on Stadium Court in the late afternoon, while Naomi Osaka and Lorenzo Musetti compete in separate midday matches on John Harris Court.
If you’re planning to attend, note that all Stadium tickets include grounds access to outer courts — including John Harris Court, Grandstand, Court 4, and Court 5 — where seating is first-come, first-served. That means fans can also watch Naomi Osaka, Holger Rune, and Lorenzo Musetti before the evening headliners.
Williams and Stearns are scheduled as the final match of the evening session, not before 7:30 PM Eastern on Stadium Court. We’ve got the full schedule for Tuesday below.
