The New York Yankees — like many of their fans from the tri-state area — are heading to Florida this week to face the Tampa Bay Rays. While the Bronx Bombers will technically be on the road, they’ll be playing at home in more ways than one.
The four-game series, set to begin on Thursday, will take place at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa — the Yankees’ spring training facility.
It’s also serving as the temporary home of the Rays, whose usual ballpark, Tropicana Field, sustained severe damage from Hurricane Milton in October 2024.
The storm ripped off large sections of the fiberglass roof, causing extensive water damage and rendering the stadium unusable for the 2025 season.
So while the Rays will be the home team on paper, the venue — and likely much of the crowd — will favor the Yankees.
For many New Yorkers on spring break, it’s a rare chance to watch the Yankees in a more intimate setting — and at a lower price than Yankee Stadium — all while on vacation.
Temperatures in Tampa toward the end of the week are expected to be in the mid to upper 80s, with no rain currently in the forecast.
How to Get Tickets to See the Yankees in Tampa
Tickets for the series at George M. Steinbrenner Field are in high demand — in part because of the limited seating capacity of approximately 11,000.
But there are still tickets available in the re-sale market for each of the four games.
