At Thursday night’s presidential debate, former President Donald Trump claimed that the United States is “closer to World War III than anybody can imagine.” He alleged that President Joe Biden has made the U.S. less safe and that Biden will drive the U.S. into a third world war.
The Russia-Ukraine war, Trump insinuated, was the new forever war. “These are wars that will never end with him [Biden],” Trump said.”
The forty-fifth president also continued to depict Biden as weak, stating that U.S. adversaries Kim Jong-un, Vladimir Putin, and Xi Jinping neither fear nor respect Biden and are thus emboldened.
Trump also said that Putin informed him in a private conversation that conquering Ukraine was “his dream.” He claimed that Putin would have never invaded Ukraine and Hamas would have never conducted the October 7 attacks on Israel under his watch.
